Stop Wrinkles Before They Start

Today's approach to health, for many, is to prevent the damage before it happens. We eat better, exercise and take supplements to fend off the inevitable onslaught of health concerns like brittle bones, memory loss and heart disease. Do we do the same with our skin, or do we just wait until the damage is done before we go into action? You can guess the smarter route.

One way to prevent oncoming lines and wrinkles is to start boosting collagen production before it slows too much. Look for products with ingredients like vitamin C, amino acids, copper peptides, growth factors and sirtuins, which all are known to improve collagen.

To maintain good skin on a cellular level, eat a regular diet that is rich in dark fruits and veggies and start drinking green tea. These cell protectors can delay the wrinkles and texture problems. Also, choose fruits and veggies with high water content (cucumbers, berries, lettuce, etc.) to keep you hydrated inside and out.

You may think 30 or even 40 is too young for injectables or fillers, but they can actually prevent early signs of aging (and improve any minor issues that are creeping up). Hyaluronic acid, which is available as an injectable filler, acts like a sponge in the skin, absorbing water and plumping up. Injectables such as Botox and Dysport can also be used when you're in your 30s to prevent the expression lines that eventually lead to crow's-feet and forehead wrinkles, just to name a few.
