Do-It-Yourself Skin Resurfacing
By Marissa Hicken |
Visiting your dermatologist for skin resurfacing treatments like microdermabrasion can refresh your complexion, reducing the appearance of scars, lines, age spots and pores. During a microdermabrasion treatment, a flow of fine crystals with applied vacuum suction results in a very gentle sandblasting of the skin, removing dead skin and clearing the pores of debris. Until now, this technique could only be achieved in a spa or doctor's office.
The same technology is now available in an at-home device called the Crystalift System, to be used once or twice a week for younger-looking, healthier skin. The do-it-yourself treatments only take about five minutes, and in addition to your face, can also treat your neck, hands and chest-areas that are all quick to show signs of aging.
You may be picturing a handheld device similar to a Clarisonic, but the Crystalift System actually sits on your countertop. But it's still small and just as simple to use as any handheld tool. You just insert a capsule of mineral crystals (the same natural micronized mineral crystals used by professionals), adjust the comfort knob and use the wand on your skin. Continued use will help reveal beautiful, silky-smooth skin.
