Hilary Duff has a couple of things going for her. Not only is she young and beautiful, she apparently has the ability to shed baby weight like a pro. That might be due to the fact that, like we said, she is young (25 as a matter of fact), but she also has a kick butt trainer whipping her back into fighting form.
Los Angeles-based personal trainer and boxing instructor Gabe Johns has been working with Hilary Duff for the past five month to help her shed her baby weight. “We skip rope and run boxing combinations in three-minute intervals with one minute of rest in-between and finish her workouts with a series of sprints up a steep hill,” he says. “But the key to really losing weight—especially stubborn baby weight—is that the workout must be constantly evolving.”
It helps that Hilary was trim and in shape before she got pregnant as well. Science shows that the better shape you are in before you give birth, the easier it will be for you to lose weight and bounce back after pregnancy. New York personal trainer, nutritionist and founder of the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp Ariane Hundt says it also helps to stay active during your pregnancy as well “Do some walking, some light jogging, or some yoga to increase flexibility,” she says. “Just wear a heart rate monitor while you’re pregnant so you make sure not to get your heart rate up too high.”
And of course, what you are eating while pregnant is important. Hundt says that you should only take in about 400 extra calories and that’s not even a cupcake, so be careful. You don’t want to gain too much weight otherwise you will have to work really hard to lose it once your baby is born.
