The average American drinks 155 cups of tea (10 gallons) a year. Whatever the color of your favorite tea, drinking a cup provides the antioxidants you need to look and feel younger. Plus, studies show that drinking tea of any kind increases insulin activity. But besides for the many health benefits, tea also offers beauty benefits as well.

Natural Mint Tea
A cup of mint tea can perk up our complexion by flushing out impurities in your skin. Susan Ciminelli, owner of Manhattan’s Susan Ciminelli Day Spa recommends drinking three cups of mint tea a day.

White Tea
Of all of the teas, white tea offers the most powerful antioxidants. White tea’s antioxidants prevent the enzyme activity that breaks down collagen and elastin. “White tea may reduce the risk of inflammation, which is characteristic of rheumatoid arthritis, as well as wrinkles,” says Kingston University professor Declan Naughton. It also helps prevent weight gain and tooth decay.

Green Tea
Chock full of antioxidants, green tea defends against the oxidative damage that causes wrinkles, discoloration and loose skin. Also an anti-inflammatory, it is used to heal wounds, fight blotchiness and improve brain function. Not to mention it may help prevent many types of cancer, burn fat and improve cholesterol levels.

To get the most out of your tea-drinking, look for all-natural tea sans fragrance and flavoring. Drink up!
