Halle Berry will forever be known for popularizing the pixie cut in the ’90s (among many other obvious accolades), but I’m convinced her “Cannes Bob” will be the start of a brand-new summer hair trend. The actress is currently in France for the 78th Cannes Film Festival, and for this week’s opening ceremony, she stepped out wearing her hair in a chin-length microbob with a side part and low-maintenance curls. If you ask me, I’ve yet to see a hairstyle more perfect for the occasion.
Berry, who is at the festival to serve on this year’s competition jury, paired her bob with a high-neck, sleeveless, black-and-white striped gown. Her hairstylist Renato Campora (who’s also worked on plenty of other A-listers such as Selena Gomez, Amanda Seyfried and Kate Hudson) shared that he achieved the effortless curls using products from French hair-care brand Christophe Robin.
After giving Berry a scalp cleanse with the Cleansing Purifying Scrub with Sea Salt ($54), Campora used the brand’s Instant Volumizing Leave-In Mist ($39) for some added texture. He then applied a “walnut-sized amount” of the Hydrating Leave-In Cream ($42) and the Regenerating Serum with Prickly Pear Oil ($49) to her hair while it was still damp and used his fingers to form curls and waves throughout Berry’s entire head. Campora finished things off by diffusing her hair and allowing some parts to air dry naturally.
