Gathering up your courage and deciding to make the leap into the bob world is one thing, but dealing with the aftermath of growing it back out is a whole different ball game. Leave it to Hailee Steinfeld, though, to make growing out a bob not only seamless, but also wildly fashionable. Transitioning out of her bob era, Steinfeld’s retro clavicut might have just become our new favorite hair trend for summer.

Just over a year ago, the Dickinson star shocked fans with her switch from cascading brunette strands to a chic, French-inspired bob and solidified the actress as a go-to in our minds for all things hair inspiration. Now, with her partnership with Nexxus, we’re looking to Steinfeld for hair advice more than ever, and her recent style has given us some valuable insight into how to grow out a bob in style.

At the premiere for her upcoming blockbuster Sinners—which she stars in alongside Michael B. Jordan—Steinfeld turned heads in a flame-adorned mesh gown. But the real showstopper was her clavicut hair cut and retro ‘70s-inspired flipped-up ends. The clavicut—aptly named in reference to hair that falls right at the clavicle—has long been a go-to for medium-length hair lovers, but Steinfeld’s high-fashion take on the trend may have just solidified the clavicut as the summer hair trend.
