In the search for a gorgeous smile, there’s a fairly simple rule to stick to: Stay away from purchasing anything of the sort that promises immediate straightening results.

Case in point: As one Irish woman found out, when it comes to your grin, there’s nothing good to be said about “glue-on veneers.”

According to radio station TodayFM, Yvette ordered the veneers after seeing them advertised on Instagram and Facebook and, well, the pictures—as well as the corresponding shots of falling-out teeth—speak volumes.

Of course, as Beverly Hills, CA, cosmetic dentist Laurence Rifkin, DDS, says, the obvious is that most dentists would never use anything that would not provide a custom-fit for health aesthetics—unless it was “more like a Halloween or a Hollywood special-effects appliance.”

“I personally think that this is just evidence that some people will take a chance and buy anything that is quick and cheap without considering the consequences,” he says. “There are numerous sayings that come to mind: ‘A fool and their money will soon be separated,’ ‘There’s a sucker born every minute,’ and, ‘Really, what were you thinking?’”
