Fun-loving TV host Giuliana Rancic (if you’ve watched any red-carpet event ever, you’ve seen her) knows beauty and fashion like the back of her hand. At 41, she spends her days chasing after her adorable son Duke, filming Fashion Police and other E! showsand designing clothes—she even has her own line of wine. But what are some things we don’t know about her? Here, we get the inside scoop from the star herself.

NewBeauty: What have you learned about the importance of good skin care being in the spotlight on TV?
Giuliana Rancic: I’ve found less is more with skin care, and it is important to start at the surface. The better condition your skin is in, the better makeup will sit on your face, and the better you’ll look on TV. I try and make my own products using natural and organic ingredients like coconut and olive oils, and witch hazel.

NB: Originally from Italy, what beauty secrets do Italian women swear by that American women should know about?
GR:
Olive oil is a big deal in Italy. A lot of women use olive oil for their hair, skin and nails and I think we will see it start popping up in more products here in the U.S. because it has so many benefits like antioxidants and vitamin E. It’s great. People think olive oil will clog your pores, but it actually has the opposite effect. Also, Italians stick to fresh ingredients instead of processed foods, which boosts energy levels and healthy skin.

NB: What are your tips for prepping your body for summer?
GR:

Exfoliating is super important for having beautiful, glowy skin. I exfoliate 2–3 times a week with a homemade mix of coffee beans and coconut oil. I love walking outdoors, too, so I always use sunscreen with at least SPF 50. Summer weather calls for strappy heels and sandals, so I also make sure I always have my newest obsession, Compeed Blister Cushions, on hand in case I get a blister. They are a lifesaver. Finally, I love a good mani-pedi—I’m all about white nails right now. I think they look beautiful on any skin tone, and they scream summer. I always keep nail polish with me so I can reapply every few days to keep it fresh.

NB: What are your must-have beauty products?
GR: My must-haves include the Anastasia Beverly Hills Contour Kit, Kiehl’s Actively Correcting and Beautifying BB Cream with SPF 50 and MILK Mascara Weekend Lash Stain. I love Ardell lashes—a great fake lash takes your look up a few notches and adds drama when going from day to night. I also keep Compeed Blister Cushions on hand at all times because I’m always on my feet.

NB: What does your fitness regimen consist of?
GR:
I used to be a runner, but now I stick to walking. If I can’t walk outside, I walk on a treadmill at about an 8 incline for 20–30 minutes, just to get my heart rate up. And then I do some light free weights for 20–30 minutes. I try to go to the gym three days a week. I don’t want working out to feel like a chore, so I watch TV and listen to audiobooks or music to make it more enjoyable. When I was in Mexico recently, my friend showed me some Pilates moves, and that is the next thing I want to get into.

NB: At what age did you feel your absolute best?
GR:
I feel my best right now! I’m about to reach my five-year milestone being cancer-free and I feel better than ever. I wake up in the morning feeling terrific because I’m getting good sleep and staying healthy. Sleep is critical, and I’m finally at a place with my schedule where I am consistently getting eight hours a night. I’m also taking care of my body, working out just enough and eating a balanced diet packed with fruits and vegetables.

NB: How do you approach aging, especially in the public eye?
GR: Lately I’ve been on this homemade natural product kick, and I’ve felt my skin has really benefited. At this point in my life, everything is au natural and I haven’t done anything in a while. Does my face move? Do I have wrinkles? Absolutely. But I think that’s OK. At the end of the day I want to look like myself, and if that means I look a little older than I did a few years ago, I’m fine with that. It’s funny, the less I do, the more my husband says, “You look beautiful, honey.”

NB: What projects are you currently working on?
GR:
I’ve been really busy lately with my clothing line [G by Giuliana] at HSN, and I’m designing 12 collections this year. My Xo,G wine has also been expanding—we have rosé, moscato, pinot grigio, and pinot noir. Also, my charity Fab-U-Wish has been granting more wishes than ever—we continue granting wishes to women who have breast cancer and are undergoing treatment, and our big gala will be in October in NYC. And, I’m really excited about a new show for E!, which I will be producing, and I’m busy with Fashion Police and the red carpet as well. There is a lot going on, but I feel like I’m able to balance and enjoy it all!

NB: Of all your celebrity interviews, which one is super memorable?
GR: I always love talking to Sandra Bullock and Julia Roberts because they know what a red-carpet interview is and they’re there to have fun. And Kate Winslet, she’s so funny. I asked her about her favorite emojis at the SAG awards and her response was, “Oh I always use the poo one.”

NB: Which three items should every woman have from your fashion collection?
GR: I have a new collection for HSN, which is in collaboration with Disney Studios and Alice Through the Looking Glass. The fun, whimsical, pieces from that collection are perfect for this time of year. I love the G by Giuliana Perfectly Mad Skirt, which comes in four different prints, including florals, which are so big for the season. I’m also obsessed with the brand-new moto-jacket called the Adventures Happen Ultra Luxe Jacket in baby blue. It adds some edge to the floral prints and the more feminine pieces in the collection. I also love all the denim pieces, particularly the boyfriend jean.

NB: You juggle so many things at once. How do you relax?
GR: I relax with family. There’s nothing I love more than spending time with my husband and son. We’re such a close-knit group, and whether we go visit his sister at her lake house in Michigan and go water-skiing, or go to Mexico where we love to vacation, we certainly make sure to have a lot of family time doing fun activities.

Happy Easter from the Rancic family ????❄
