Yesterday, L’Oréal announced its newest international spokesperson: British activist and actress Gemma Chan. The 37-year-old star says she “couldn’t be more excited,” and we couldn’t agree more—this truly is a match made in brand collaboration heaven.
According to a company, Chen is promoting positive change within the film industry by fighting for more inclusion, gender equality, racial diversity, and children’s rights. This mega opportunity gives her the platform to speak out even louder and become a catalyst for world-wide change.
Having core values that directly align with L’Oréals’, the Crazy Rich Asians star says she’s “Thrilled to join L’Oréal Paris, a family of empowered women of all origins standing together to show the power and beauty of diversity. The L’Oréal Paris message to every woman: ‘believe in your self-worth’ is as needed today as ever.”
Her first global campaign for the company involves a product we’ve been looking forward to for months: L’Oréal Revitalift Derm Intensives 3.5% Pure Glycolic Cleanser ($13), which claims to resurface the skin and prep it for serum application in just one step.
Just like she looked up to her own mother as a beauty icon, “Gemma is a source of inspiration behind the screen, for young women to be the change,” says Delphine Viguier-Hovasse, global brand president at L’Oréal Paris. “We’re delighted to welcome Gemma to the family.”
