If you haven’t tried dry shampoo by now, what are you waiting for? Anything that has the power to make our blowouts last an extra day (sometimes two) automatically has a place on our must-have beauty products list. And it looks like it’s only going to get harder and harder to pick out a favorite!
According to new research from Mintel, dry shampoo now accounts for three percent of global shampoo launch activity in 2012, compared to just one percent in 2008. Mintel beauty & personal care analyst Amy Ziegler says dry shampoo’s rising popularity is due to the argument that washing your hair too often is bad news.
“Dry shampoo has made a serious case for convenient cleansing as it provides the functional cleansing benefits without the wash, rinse, repeat routine, and directly ties into consumers’ ease of use expectations,” says Ziegler.
Not only can you expect to see more dry shampoos on the shelves, they’re starting to become a normal part of women’s hair routines, particularly in the United Kingdom. In fact, one in five British women say that they use dry shampoo when they don’t have time to wash their hair.
