Skin-Care That’s as Good as it Smells

I tend to stay away from beauty and skin-care products that smell like candy. For one thing, the smell reminds me of that awkward middle school stage. And for another, it tends to be a red flag that the product is not up to par on quality. But recently, I came across a product that makes me rethink my aversion to sweet smelling skin-care.

Eminence’s Strawberry Rhubarb Masque Masque ($52) smells like delicious strawberry candy. But that’s not artificial fragrance that you’re smelling, it’s the ingredients. This masque actually contains strawberry (the proof is in the seeds), which has actually been known to help protect your skin from sun damage. Not only that, strawberries contain salicylic acid that exfoliates your skin and shrink pores. Plus, the ascorbic acid and vitamins can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

In addition to strawberries, the masque contains even more skin-friendly ingredients. The shea butter moisturizes, while the grape seed oil gives you your antioxidant fix. The rhubarb calms and soothes the skin. And the hyaluronic acid helps plump the skin to minimize fine lines and wrinkles. Need we say more?

When applying the masque, I felt like I was putting a smoothie straight from my blender onto my face. I slathered it on my skin and then let it dry for about 15 minutes before washing it off. My skin definitely felt soft and smooth afterwards, and I noticed that my pores looked smaller, particularly on my nose. I would recommend this product, just be warned, this masque will definitely give you a sweet tooth and you might want to eat it.
