There’s something rather comforting about walking into a nail salon anywhere in the world and seeing the standard Essie bottle—white cap, clear glass bottle, various shade inside peeking through—staring back at you.
So it’s major news that Essie debuted a look at the Met Gala last night that’s a bit different for them—in the form of its new Gel Couture collection. The formula is the first for the brand in the long-wear category (think a gel-like finish, minus the lamp and any annoying special removal process) and there are a whooping 42 new shades that come with the promise of lasting up to 14 days.

But it’s the bottle that has everyone going a bit bonkers. In an ode to “the twirling dresses on a runway,” it features an actual “twist” in the shape, as well as a patent-pending swirl stem brush with a tapered cut that the company says ensures application perfection.
You can’t buy the new line until June (and the retail is a slightly higher $11.50), but, rest assured, if you aren’t so great with change, the classic bottles, colors and formulas are still available for purchase.
