Getting eight hours of sleep can be difficult. Stress, changes in the weather, travel-many things can interfere with your ability to get the rest that your body needs. Sleep also gives your skin time to rejuvenate and with sufficient amounts, you should see less of those dark bags under your eyes in the morning.
When a room is too quiet, I just can’t sleep. I’ve tried leaving on music, turning on the television at a lower volume, and even pulling out a fan in the middle of winter. While all have, at times, worked for me, none have been consistent. And when I travel, a television doesn’t exactly fit easily into my carry-on.
I did some research and ended up purchasing the Homedics Sound Spa Acoustic Relaxation Machine. This device, which fits easily into an overnight bag, has been a godsend for me. I can program it to stay on for 15, 30, or 60 minutes, or even leave it on continuously. The volume is adjustable, and it runs on either batteries or with an AC adapter. With six programs of sounds-natural streams, ocean waves, white noise, summer nights, wind, and spring rain-you’re certain to find something that will send you on your way to a peaceful night of sleep.
