It’s Over: Two Major Beauty Sites Are Shutting Down featured image

The popular online answer to many consumers’ health, beauty and household products just made a major announcement today.

Drugstore super brand Walgreens said it will shut down Drugstore.com, as well as sister site Beauty.com, to focus on its own Walgreens.com site. Walgreens bought the ecommerce company five years ago for $429 million; it’s anticipated the sites will cease by the end of September.

“Over the past year, we have been focusing on building new omni-channel capabilities on Walgreens.com with initiatives that improved assortment and website user experiences, enhanced our digital coupon capabilities to provide more customer value, and added digital tools into our stores to elevate our shopping experiences,” Walgreens said in a statement. “Expanding on these efforts is an important part of our strategy.”

So will this mean more beauty living on the core Walgreens.com site? Stay tuned…
