Drew Barrymore has always been pretty open and candid. From posting makeup-free Instagrams to gray-hair selfies, she’s a celebrity who knows how to keep it real.

Maintaining her honest reputation, Barrymore recently started the social media hashtag, #TheWayItLooksToUs. The idea is that many people think parenthood looks one way when in reality it’s much less pretty and much more difficult.

Using this hashtag, Barrymore dedicated one of her posts to wellness. In the post, she writes, “When I look at Instagram, I am made to think I should be at my best self But most days, I lack consistency due to real life.”

She goes on to talk about the different photos she posted, one of her pregnant and the third one 25-pounds later. However, she writes that this weight loss was not easy to come by. “You can tell my face is so much thinner! This takes me so much work. Diet and exercise and fighting like a lion for it! Damn you genetics!”

She continues to explain what it is she wants, echoing a lot of other women’s struggles with weight. “I just know that I have the control to be what I want. Even if it is hard AF!”

So next time you’re getting down on yourself for struggling to drop a few pounds or not working out as much as you’d like, know you aren’t alone. Even a celebrity like Drew Barrymore struggles with it.
