Dr. Gene Rubinstein

3959 Laurel Canyon Blvd. STE F, Studio City, CA, 91604
We have the tools to achieve natural-looking results that help improve your skin.

Known for his use of multiple modalities and customized treatment protocols, Dr. Gene Rubinstein’s expertise spans the skin-care spectrum. His Studio City practice, which encompasses cosmetic, surgical and general dermatology and a 3,000-square-foot laser center, caters to celebrity clientele who demand a camera-ready appearance. “I’ve developed a very subtle technique with fillers that fosters undetectable results—even under high definition cameras,” he explains. The doctor often relies on a combination of medical and aesthetic therapies to restore skin that’s been damaged by acne, environmental aggressors or aging.

About My Practice

What makes your practice distinctive?

We take a comprehensive approach to skin rejuvenation to help patients get the best possible results. For most concerns, a combination of lasers, fillers and aesthetician services are combined to achieve an optimal outcome.

What is your patient care philosophy?

Patients have their own ideas about what they want to achieve. It’s my job to listen to their concerns, note their goals, and explain to them in a medically accurate and concise way what is and is not possible.

How do you stay on the cutting-edge?

I keep up to date through medical journals and attending professional meetings, but more importantly, I am a constant student of my trade. I examine scientific evidence and learn how to improve upon what I already know. Learning about new techniques and always asking the question, “Is there a better way to do this?” is an integral part of my practice.

About Me

How much of your practice is medical versus cosmetic?

It’s about 50-50. The two play off one another, but as a dermatologist, I always look at things from a medical perspective first. It’s not uncommon for a patient to come in for a cosmetic laser treatment and during the procedure, we find, diagnose and remove a melanoma.

How would your patients characterize you?

Caring, gentle, responsive and very scientific in my approach.

Why did you become a dermatologist?

I was doing internal medicine when I realized that many disorders can be diagnosed by looking at skin, and that fascinated me. I also liked the aesthetic component; I’m artistic and the fact that dermatology combined medical know-how with artistic creativity was very appealing.

To give my patients the best experience possible, from the moment they first come in contact with my practice

  2. The most unique aspect of my practice

We offer SculpSure®, a new noninvasive laser procedure that reduces fat in the target area by 25 percent

  3. Career-defining procedure

The first time I injected filler and made under-eye bags disappear, the patient was so incredibly happy, and felt like it was a miracle

  4. My dream innovation

A device that can diagnose skin cancer without doing a biopsy

  5. What i love most about my profession

Whether it’s acne, psoriasis or sun damage, giving a patient newly clear skin is truly rewarding

  6. Most inspirational thing i learned this year

I teach dermatology to both UCLA and USC residents. Their enthusiasm inspires me and I continue to learn
    from them as well

  7. My greatest achievement

    Building a successful practice where
    we’re able to provide high-quality
    care and cutting-edge treatments

    Give treatments time to work.
    Many skin conditions are complex,

    may take months. Some treatments

also take months but the results look
    natural and are long lasting

We treat every patient like a family
    member. Our most unique quality
is the level of service we provide.

    well-trained and knowledgeable
with respect to procedures we offer,
as well as helping patients with

I recommend photofacials to all my friends

Elsa D. D.
"I am so happy I was referred to Dr. Rubinstein by a good friend who has been seeing him for many years. She looked so great that I trusted going to her doctor. I am very pleased with my results. I had a photofacial and Juvederm. It's been about four months since I started my transformation and I am looking better than I have for a long. My sunspots have subsided and I am wearing less coverup. I recommend photofacials to all my friends now. So this is a very good find."
