Metamorphosis for your mind, body and soul.

There is nothing quite as comforting as having complete trust in your doctor’s transformative skill, talent and ability, and it’s that trust that keeps Dr. Carmen M. Kavali on speed dial for countless patients. Known for giving women the head-to-toe makeovers they deserve, she takes every precaution to ensure they can visualize their new bodies, long before she ever steps foot in the surgical suite. “Goal-setting is the first step,” she says. “For instance, for breast surgeries, I look at the current breast size, shape, skin quality and quantity, rib shape, etc. There’s a lot of pre-planning that goes into getting those life-changing results.” After setting a plan in what she calls, “the most reasonable and natural way possible,” she takes the time to go over all of the nuances of the procedure, so there are no surprises. “My patients are always in awe of how closely our Vectra 3D Imaging is to the final result. It’s taking in all of these, factors, choosing the right implants together and considering body shape, lifestyle habits and what my patient is going to need in the future that helps me achieve these beautiful, natural-looking results.”

About My Practice

What makes your practice distinct?

We strive to make every patient feel like part of our family. We see the consultation as the beginning of a relationship, and it’s our goal to partner with our clients for life.

How do you best educate patients?

We pride ourselves on our educational process. It begins with our website—I actually wrote or edited most of the text on our website myself to be a source of comprehensive information regarding our procedures, and I wanted it to have my voice. We consistently hear from our patients that we spend more time with them and provide them with more detailed information than other offices they have visited.

What are your most requested procedures?

Mommy Makeovers are huge at my practice, and we also do a lot of body contouring after massive weight loss. I love the challenge of renewing a face or figure that has been changed by pregnancy or weight loss—it’s incredibly rewarding to help give someone their best body ever!

What are you excited about for the future of your practice?

We recently moved to our first new office in 11 years! Located at 6045 Barfield Road, the new office is spacious and tranquil with an inviting, spa-like atmosphere.

About Me

What do you like to do when you're not working?

I am a bootcamp instructor—I work out at 5:45 a.m. on weekday mornings, then head to the office. I also have two beautiful, smart children—Tyler is 9 years old and Sophia is 8—and a wonderful husband.

A Minute With

  1. Areer-defining procedure

I didn’t know I wanted to do plastic surgery at all until I saw a TRAM flap during my general surgery residency and I was blown away by the brilliance and elegance of that procedure, which uses abdominal tissue to rebuild a breast after breast cancer

  2. What i love most about my profession

I love that we are known as the “surgeons’ surgeon”— we operate from head to toe and aren’t confined
    to a specific body area

  3. The biggest misconception about my field

’m amazed that many people still don’t understand that a board-certified plastic surgeon is not the same as a “cosmetic” surgeon

  4. Most inspirational thing i learned this past year

Until you give up the idea that happiness is somewhere else, it will never be where you are

  5. My motto

    It will all work out—always

  6. The future of my field

I think we’re going to see an increase in the use of fat transfer for recontouring faces and bodies

  7. How my profession has evolved

There has been a definite shift toward more minimally invasive and nonsurgical options for facial and body rejuvenation

  8. My operating room playlist

    Train, Adele and Chris Tomlin

  9. What sets my practice apart

We have a full range of options for our clients, for both nonsurgical and surgical treatments

  10. How do you manage patient expectations?

    The first step is understanding
    what endpoint my patients expect.
I always ask, “Six months later, what
do you need to see in the mirror to
believe it was all worth it?” That
answer tells me all I need to know.
We can then have a discussion about
whether those are realistic goals and
either look in the mirror together, or
use my Vectra 3D imaging software,
to see where we’re starting and
    discuss any potential limitations

  11. What are your most requested procedures?

    Breast augmentations, tummy tucks,
    Mommy Makeovers, liposuction,
    facelifts and injectables

  12. What surgical trends are you seeing at your practice?

    I’ve been placing more implants
above the muscle versus over the
    muscle—recovery time is shorter and
    we can avoid animation deformity

  13. What is your surgical niche?

I don’t like to pigeonhole myself as
my practice continues to evolve with
my patients over time, but I’m best
    known for my Mommy Makeovers.
As my “moms” have gotten older—
I’ve been in practice for more than
16 years—I’m now also doing a lot of
    facelifts and injectable treatments
like Botox Cosmetic and dermal filler

  14. Why do you place a strong emphasis on body contouring?

My practice is about the whole body,
from head to toe. It’s about the whole
person, from the inside out. We care
about who you are as an individual
and we strive to make your outside
match how you feel on the inside. It’s
    not about just the face, breast or body;
it’s about bringing it all together

  15. What accolades mean the most to you?

Hearing that a new patient was sent to
me by a former one is the best praise

  16. My operating room playlist

    Train, Adele and
    Chris Tomlin

  1. What nonsurgical trends are you seeing at your practice?
    What our experts say:

CoolSculpting is a growing trend that I think is here to stay. Unlike many devices whose media hype precedes the science behind them, this one really works and the results are permanent! You can lose fat without surgery.
