The majority of women don’t know what’s in their cosmetics, though they use at least 10 different products every day. That’s according to a Portland State University survey of about 1000 women between the ages of 17 to 30. It turns out 63 percent of the women didn’t know much about the ingredients in any of the products that go on their face, hair and bodies.
Of the most commonly used goods were daily moisturizer, shampoo, foundation, mascara and lipstick-all products that are commonly used by most of us. And while the women were in the dark about what they were using, 45 percent of them said they don’t think the government regulates the ingredients adequately, either.
Luckily, someone wants to figure it out. That’s why the Personal Care Products Council is working to clear up the confusion and provide greater transparency of the formulas used in today’s cosmetics reports CosmeticsDesign.com.
