Some women swear by them, but alternative therapies are getting a bad rap in the obstetric community. While treatments like reflexology, acupuncture, homeopathy, kinesiology, and herbal supplements may have their benefits, helping you get pregnant isn’t one of them-and they could, in fact, be hurting your efforts.
A Danish study followed 800 women receiving in-vitro fertilization treatment, 261 of whom tried at least one of the the aforementioned alternative therapies. The results showed that women who opt for these kinds of treatments are 20% less likely to get pregnant.
Researchers say their findings show that these therapies are not as benign as people think, but that much more examination is required to determine why something as seemingly simple as pressing on one’s feet could negatively effect conception.
