What’s your morning routine?
I wake up between 7:30 am and 8:00 am. I’m a firm believer that you look beautiful when you feel beautiful—it emanates from within. With that said, the first thing I don in the morning is meditate for 20 minutes. It helps to clear my head and prepares me for tackling the day. I also like to go to the gym in the morning. I work out with a trainer three times per week and on my own twice a week. When I don’t work out, I like to go walking for at least an hour.
For breakfast, I drink an 8 oz. vegetable juice that I make at home with cucumber, kale, ginger, apple and lemon. It’s delicious and fills me up and gives me the energy to start the day. Then I pick out my outfit and head out the door. I like to think I’m quick, so about it usually takes me 45 minutes—excluding the gym!
Which products do you use every day?
I don’t have a particular facial skincare brand I am loyal to because I like to try new things and experiment with different products, but I do have a routine. Every morning, I start with a mild foaming soap and then follow with a hydrating face and neck cream, as well as an eye cream. Three times a week, I use a gentle exfoliant.
At night, I start with a gentle cleansing cream and follow with a foaming soap. I then use a gentle tonic, and after that, I follow with a light hydrating serum. Then, I dab on a bit of eye cream. Lastly, I apply a hydrating face and neck cream. My secret tip? I always add a few drops of Moroccanoil Pure Argan Oil in all of my creams. It’s rich with moisturizing and anti-aging properties.
I’ve always loved the ritual of going to the salon, and they’re at the heart of my business. So, I rarely wash my hair at home and instead, I pop into one of my favorite salons twice a week—fieldwork!
Whenever I wash my hair, I love to use Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and Conditioner since both hydrate my hair and leave it feeling smooth and strong. I always follow with Moroccanoil Treatment. It’s my go-to product for any hair day!
Describe a typical day at work.
Every day I meet with different department heads, PR & Marketing, Sales, Product Development (and more), to touch base and go over projects we have in the works. There are always so many moving pieces in each department that each meeting can last anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours.
For lunch, I try to eat light so I’ll usually have either a salad with chicken or a healthy soup with vegetable juice. Lately, I’ve been hooked on the smoothies and juices from Juice Press and their soups! Once a week I try to have lunch with a colleague or a friend out of the office. It’s a nice way to escape for a bit and stay connected with the people I’m close to.
What do you do after work?
After work is all about my family. I love spending quality time with my 14-year-old daughter and our two dogs. We’ll eat dinner together and go for a walk afterwards. I make this amazing vegetarian sandwich that I could eat every day. Toasted sprouted bread, avocado, thinly sliced cucumbers, alfalfa sprout (or any sprout), Fleur du Sel and olive oil—it’s so delicious! I also make a tasty vegetable stir-fry with chicken and a nice pasta dish with olive bread. We go out for dinner a couple times a week. My favorites are Elio’s, Milo’s and Mr. Chow but I also love to try new restaurants. In New York City there’s always an amazing restaurant popping up just around the corner.
I also use the evenings to catch up with my older daughter and son who are away at school and friends over the phone. Then I like to relax with a cup of tea, a good book—sneak in a few emails I didn’t get to earlier in the day—and some TV before bed. I’m in bed around midnight.
Any new products you’re excited about?
I’m very excited about the new products coming out in the Moroccanoil Body line, they’re going to have an amazing scent story and I can’t wait for consumers to try them! They’re all going to be incredible but I think I’m most excited about the new body scrubs.
Are there any interesting steps in your beauty routine?
I would say I’m a bit high maintenance. I’m really diligent about keeping my skin clean and hydrated and I treating myself to facials. I try to get a professional facial at least twice a month to reset and rejuvenate my skin and I love a beautiful blowout at the salon!
I also take good care of my hair by using Moroccanoil Intense Hydrating Mask once a week at home to restore my hair’s health and give it fabulous shine!
What would our readers be surprised to know about you?
For one, I’m from Chile! But, I think people would probably be surprised to know that I have a very slow-paced life. I have learned the importance of time for oneself and that my home life is as important as my work. The key is moderation in anything that you do.
