Dare To Go Dark

This fall Clinique is introducing “the new black” and lucky for us the new black is a shade we could actually get used to. Labeled Black Honey, this Clinique lipstick shade, first introduced in 1971, has become a classic. It may have started out as just a lip color, but Clinique is now debuting in an entire collection featuring the shade in eye, lip and cheek formulas.

The limited-edition Black Honey Lip Duo is a double sided tube: on one side is Almost Lipstick and on the other, Long Last Glosswear SPF 15. Apply just the lipstick for a soft and dewy finish or just the gloss for a high-shine pout, and, of course, layer them together for a fuller look.

Don’t let the color scare you; Black Honey is a little less fierce than it may appear. And while I was terrified of how dark it looked in the tube, I was pleasantly surprised by its sheerness when I applied it to my lips. Clinique says it’s flattering on all women. I conducted my own experiments in the NewBeauty office and couldn’t agree more. If you haven’t already been wearing this shade for decades you might want to give it a try. And if you have, then this 2-in-1 Lip Duo will be a welcome addition to your makeup bag.
