Over the weekend, I went to an indie craft fair called Stitch Rock, expecting to mingle with my kind and perhaps buy some handmade jewelry or a t-shirt. To my surprise, I found myself playing beauty editor at one of the most prominently placed booths, belonging to Lolablue, a mom-run company that hand-crafts candles and body products.
Being the soap addict that I gladly admit I am, I was immediately drawn to Lolablue’s unbelievably delicious natural soaps. After going back and forth between several scents, I picked the super-fresh Sunshine Daydream, which stood out with its marbled blues and greens. But what I really want to tell you about is the scrub sample that owner Jamie Lovern put in my bag.
SKYCLAD sugar scrub is touted as a ritual in the nude, and I can easily understand why. This is much more than just a way to exfoliate-it’s an experience. Free of parabens, mineral oil and sulfates, the Lemongrass Mint variety I took home offered instant aromatherapy with its fatigue-fighting scent. In fact, the headache I had gotten from being in the hot vintage gymnasium where Stitch Rock took place seemed to just melt away.
My mood was lifted, but my skin was thankful, too. Surrounded by essential oils and vitamins, the organic cane sugar did a fantastic job sloughing and smoothing, while shea, soy and mango butters left plenty of moisture behind.
Luckily, you don’t have to wait for an indie craft fair to discover Lolablue for yourself. You can find these passionately produced creations at their website, lolablueliving.com.
