From aerobic instructor (“That one shows my age”) to a current gig as UN Goodwill Ambassador, our former cover star Connie Britton has held a whole bunch of careers. Then there’s that whole other “side project” she has: acting.
When she sat down with us last May, she gave us some interesting insight on how she connects to the characters she plays—even when they are nothing like her. And, as her role last night in FX’s The People Vs. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story showed, it’s one she has nailed down to a science.

“Right now I am working on American Crime Story with Ryan Murphy and I am playing Faye Resnick. The two of us are so different in so many ways, but I found that little thread that connects us. And, all of a sudden, I was like, ‘I get you Faye! I get you girl!’ I have to have that in order to do a good job.”
“I try to find a connection to all the characters I play. One little thread of connection that ties the two of us,” she says. “I need that to play the characters truly.”
