“It’s a more enjoyable experience,” she says. It’s a move that might seem like pure dramatics for most, yet seems rightfully fitting for a brand that’s been described as “the scent of royalty,” having been granted the use of the royal crown by Queen Victoria when it was distributed under the original Crown Perfumery.

Victoria (the present-day one) also likes to challenge newcomers to the luxe line to a guessing game of how many notes are in a bottle.
“10? 20?” You know, based on the fact that she’s even asking, that your number is off…you just don’t know by how much.
Try hundreds. “Each perfume is incredibly complex. There’s 100 to 300 raw ingredients in every bottle, and they tend to be natural extracts, oils and absolutes.”
Victoria admits that that number, when compared to most fragrances, is most definitely a lot, but it’s intentional, as the fragrances are meant to make a statement.
“We create perfumes only, which are more complex and concentrated than eau de parfums and eau de toilettes. Both the complexity and the concentration affect the experience of the wearer. All of the perfumes contain a minimum of 20-percent pure perfume all the way through to 100-percent pure perfume oil in our Absolute Collection, which make our perfumes of the highest concentration, allowing it to stay on the skin for a longer period of time.”
So long, she says, that as a rule, an eau de parfum will last on your skin for six to eight hours, whereas these perfumes will last between 12 and 24 hours.
The staying power and the complexity doesn’t come cheap. The latest introductions, Noble VIII Magnolia and Immortelle, retail for $550 each, and it’s recommended that they’re worn together as a pair, which Victoria says offers a “complementary interpretation” of the same perfume. “This is one of the ways in which we pay homage to the original Crown Perfumery’s roots, when Queen Victoria and Prince Albert created perfumes for one another as a symbol of their love.”
“Using rare and exclusive ingredients in their purest form will undoubtedly affect cost, but creating the very best is at the heart of what we do. Our sought-after ingredients are sourced from around the world and we use them in their purest form, ensuring that they are of the rarest and finest quality.”
