Discovering Laqa & Co.’s Nail Polish Pen was a bit like the moment when I first used a clickable Sharpie: I wondered why no one had thought of this before now. Who wants to keep replacing the cap so the thing doesn’t dry out? It’s just faster and easier to click it open.
Laqa’s Nail Polish Pen is also faster and easier to use and convenient enough for on-the-go touch-ups. Simply click the bottom and watch slick nail polish coat the brush tip. Apply to nails and click as you need more polish. Tip: It’s a good idea to get the whole brush well-coated and practice using it so you don’t get streaks. (I tried it on a Post-it note first.) Also, the formula seems a little thinner than the kind you find in the bottle so don’t click the bottom too much or the polish will drip. The instructions suggest three thin coats for the right coverage, but I needed a fourth on my big toes so they wouldn’t look too translucent. Now they are a pale shade of Hi-Liter orange and look nice but a little on the sheer side.
All office supply references aside, I was able to do all those coats of polish in the same time it takes me to do two coats the old fashioned way. So I love the concept. While the formula wasn’t what I was used to, the breeze of application made up for it. I think with a little more Post-it note practice, I’ll be able to produce a more even coat just about anywhere.
