The first skincare brand I ever tried was Clinique, as an acne-prone teen. I was a fan of their classic Clarifying Lotion, which was helpful, though not miraculous (at least not for me); but if they’d offered their new Acne Solutions Oil-Control Cleansing Mask back in the day, I’m pretty sure I would’ve liked my skin-and my high school years-that much more.
This mask offers four benefits to breakout-inclined complexions. First, it helps heal pimples; second, it helps stop new ones from forming by unclogging pores; third, it absorbs excess oil to keep skin un-shiny; and fourth-a need that’s oft overlooked by other zit-zapping formulas-it soothes acne-angered skin.
It does all of this in a mere five minutes, thanks to salicylic acid in a clarifying clay base. After you rinse it off, skin looks clearer and feels calmer. (And if you’re self-conscious about acne, like I was, your nerves will be calmer, too.)
