“The new color trend for chocolate-mauve hair is basically adding light, subtle tones, unlike last year’s trend of bleaching out the hair and adding bright colors such as blue, green, red, etc to it, which is very damaging because you have to bleach it out so light and then add color back to the hair,” says Victoria van Bakergem, color specialist at the Warren-Tricomi Salon at the Plaza Hotel. “Now we can use safer products, such as an oil lightener, rather than bleach.”
