Celebrities have often been cited to sell beauty products, but one Chinese company is being investigated over bizarre weight-loss product claims that include a false assertion about former first daughter Chelsea Clinton.
The company behind the awkwardly-named America Seven-Point Thinness herbal patch has made over $26 million in China in just a few months, duping eager buyers by telling them fat will simply leak out of their body wherever they place the patch. Not only did commercials say the patch is made-and popular-in America, but they claimed Chelsea Clinton lost 26 pounds in a month using it.
In actuality, the patch is produced in the Chinese town of Tianjin, and the “fat” that leaks out is oil already in the patch. As for Chelsea, she hasn’t commented on the situation, but we have a feeling the always-svelte daughter of Bill and Hillary had never even heard about this deception-packed patch until the investigation hit headlines.
