Makeup artist to the stars Charlotte Tilbury is all about cosmetics—she’s even admitted to sleeping in a full smokey eye—but when she is able to combine a powerful makeup product with even more impressive science, that’s when the real magic happens.

On a virtual press event to usher in the British makeup artist’s latest launch, aptly named Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation, she is particularly proud of this fact. “This launch combines science and color,” she explains of the formula that’s been three years in the making. “It treats the skin and transforms it at the same time.”

The Details

“It delivers a flawless medium coverage and gives you an instant glow with skin-perfecting ingredients,” says Tilbury of the buildable formula that works on all skin types, from dry to oily. “Science adds radiance, smoothness, plumpness, hydration and it controls your glow which is really important,” she continues, noting that the foundation is especially impressive on more mature skin types or those with wrinkles that usually cake at the hand of regular formulas. “[The Foundation] is almost like a sheath or a shield on your skin and it just plumps it all out,” she explains. “Even in the harshest daylight, you will look younger.”

The Science

If you’re wondering how a makeup product can deliver such standout skin-improving results, you’re not alone. Lucky for us, Tilbury was eager to share information on a handful of new ingredients formulated by the geniuses behind the beauty brand. According to clinical trials, “Our new Radiant Rose Complex boosts skin radiance by 285 percent,” says Tilbury, and ingredients such as hyaluronic acid and new Coconut Extract delivered a 166-percent boost in skin’s hydration in just four weeks.

For those of us with oily skin or enlarged pores, this glow-boosting formula is a dream for us too, thanks to another unique-to-the-brand ingredient called Bix Active, which Tilbury says, “Cancels the appearance of pores and acts as a sponge to soak up excess sebum throughout the day.”

“It cancels hyperpigmentation, pores, dark circles, skin stress, dullness, fatigue in the skin, dehydration, sallowness and controls your shine,” continues Tilbury of the next-level formula that really does it all. The result after every use: smoother, softer, more radiant-looking skin throughout the day and when you take it off. “You will have your best skin day every single day you wear this foundation,” Tilbury assures.

Match-Maker

Charlotte’s Beautiful Skin Foundation is available in 30 shades categorized by fair, medium, tan, and deep overtones, with cool, neutral, and warm undertones. As such, finding your perfect shade might sound like a tall task, but the brand is also unveiling the launch of their new Foundation Finder, which makes the once-stressful step easier than ever.

“Created in partnership with MIME, Foundation Finder version 4.0 is a first to market innovation that combines intelligent beauty AI and light technology with 1.5 million foundation shade matches to bring you a foundation match in 60 seconds,” reads a release.

Celebrity-Approved

As you can imagine, celebrities are already offering their hard-to-earn stamps of approval. “I’ve tested [the Foundation] on a bunch of celebrity clients, like Kate Moss, Amal Clooney and Salma Hayek during the British Fashion Awards,” says Tilbury. A-listers including Moss herself, Jourdan Dunn and Phoebe Dynevor are so impressed with the formula, they are also the celebrity faces of the launch.
