Some women swear their lip balms or moisturizers have caused their skin the become “addicted,” so they have to use them more and more. But no matter what you use to lubricate your lips or correct your complexion, the concept of skin getting hooked on a product is a myth.
As we age, oil gland activity slowly declines. When this happens, a product that previously worked well for you may not be as effective anymore. It may seem like the signs of addiction, but it’s just natural aging. Ultimately, endocrine activity can’t be controlled by topical applications.
It’s also important to keep in mind that lips can become dry by licking them or become irritated by food or other elements. Additionally, some lip balms contain ingredients that can cause allergic reactions that you may mistake for a sign that you need to apply more.
