Satisfaction with hyaluronic acid injectables, when performed by an expert, is very high. However, it’s nice to know that this is one cosmetic procedure that, in general, can be reversed.
Most fillers will gradually be absorbed, and results will diminish within a few months. But if you’ve been injected with a hyaluronic acid-based formula (like Restylane, Juvederm or Hydrelle), and you feel a little too “full” or simply aren’t happy with the results, an injection of hyaluronidase can speed up the absorption so results diminish within a few weeks. This type of enzyme degrades hyaluronic acid.
The beauty of temporary fillers is that they are indeed temporary. Keep in mind, however, that other types of injectables, like Botox and Radiesse, cannot be broken down this way. Patience is the only option if you aren’t content with a non-hyaluronic injectable outcome.
