Breast Implants And Breastfeeding

Many women are concerned about being able to breastfeed any children they may have after undergoing breast augmentation. In most cases, however, breast implants should not affect the ability to breastfeed or produce milk.

Even if you experience difficulty breastfeeding, keep in mind that it may not be related to your augmentation. Some studies report that 10% to 15% of women who have never had breast surgery have difficulty or are not capable of breastfeeding. Breast reduction surgery can further increase the risk of breastfeeding problems.

Regardless, it’s important to tell your surgeon if you plan on having children so he or she can help you create your best possible surgical plan.
