These New Hybrid Shadows Make Doing Your Eye Makeup Easier Than Ever

Maybe it’s the product that always seems to fall on my already made-up face when I’m on my way out the door or their quick ability to shatter in a makeup kit, but I’ve never truly been a fan of powder eye shadows. And while the vast majority of eye shadow products are dry and powder-based, that doesn’t mean I don’t wear any color on my eyes—in fact, my shadow collection is brimming with different sticks and cream eyeshadows that do the job just as well (if not better) sans any messy situations. However, because it’s pretty tough to change up a stick- or cream-based shadow’s formula, the only differentiators between my go-tos have been their packaging and their hues—until I stumbled upon butter LONDON’s new Glazen Eye Glosses ($24), which sport a formula unlike anything I’ve ever seen.

Before opening the pot, the product seems like any other cream shadow—a pretty jar housing a shimmery-yet-not-too-crazy pigment—but once it's opened, the formula is crazy cool. After you get over the incredible color and sheen of each hue, you’ll notice the formula literally jiggles like pudding (in the prettiest way), almost a nod to the jelly-textured K-beauty products that have taken the world by storm as of late. The shadow goes on as a gel (lighter than any other cream-based shadow), dries as a powder (seriously), and leaves behind the ultimate high-shine “wet look” we’re all after. Oh, and one more thing: it doesn’t crease. And coming from someone with extra oily eyelids, you can trust me when I say these must-haves aren’t budging once you apply them.
Now that you’re intrigued, here’s what you need to know. The jellies come in four different shades—“Spark," a warm champagne-like hue, "Oil Slick," the ultimate cool-girl shadow I can’t get enough of, “Frosted,” a classic rose shade, and “Bronzed,” your new go-to for a rusted wash of color perfect for day or night—that can be worn in a variety of ways. Apply one coat for a sheer, sparkly coat of color or layer it on for an opaque, glamorous look. One try and you’ll simply forget what powder eye shadows are. With this gel hybrid, you can now finally have the best of both worlds.
