Sunscreenr From 'Shark Tank' Is the At-Home Tool That Will Keep Your Skin Protected

We apply sunscreen like we should, but how do we really know if it's protecting us like it claims it will? With the help of special high-tech cameras that reveal what sunscreen looks like on skin under UV light, we can finally see how it all really works.

This new type of camera also shows what skin looks like without any sunscreen on, which can be quite alarming (even jaw-dropping) for some. It can detect the damage under your skin (mainly freckles and dark spots) that probably hasn't surfaced yet, especially in younger people. (Some doctors' offices and medi-spas offer this type of skin imaging as well.) If more people could see their skin in this way, maybe it would help them realize how important sunscreen use really is.

There's even a new company called Sunscreenr, which is taking this concept a step further by bringing this technology to consumers at home with a handheld UV-light viewer device. It works by showing you where your sunscreen has been applied so you know you're protected (it even shows where it may have come off after swimming, sweating or toweling off).

Tonight on ABC's Shark Tank, the company made a deal with Kevin O'Leary for $800,000 to get the product into homes across the globe and keep people shielded from sun damage. You can pre-order your device here, and the company says they will start shipping in December.
