Marc Jacobs Air Blush Is Here to Change How You Think About Makeup
By Carolyn Hsu |
Although often heralded—by both makeup artists and your mother—as the most important product you’re not using, blush is one of those things that’s just (generally speaking) not that exciting. Plus, it can even be annoying: Apply too little and you barely see the difference, but go even a smidgen heavy-handed and you’re left searching for a wet paper towel.
But, the new Marc Jacobs Beauty Air Blush Soft Glow Duo ($42) addresses the boring factor, and is surprisingly easy to use. The pigments are encapsulated in a unique Japanese “air powder,” which creates a weightlessness that gives your skin an airbrushed look instead of settling into lines or appearing too heavy. The unique stripe design also makes it a particularly versatile product. The contrasting pigments pick up on the blush exactly as it does in the pan, and when swirled onto the cheekbones, gives a multidimensional look. Or, my favorite way to use it, is to press my blush brush into the darker end of the pan, use that to contour right under the cheekbone, and then press the brush again into the lighter side to highlight.
The Air Blush comes in a range of five hues. My favorites are Flesh & Fantasy for creating a soft natural sculpt and Lush & Libido for a girly flush. Night Fever & Hot Stuff is also particularly flattering for darker skin tones.
