The classic blue bottle has been deemed as a showstopping primer, delivering a veil-like layer that will keep even the most oily skin matte all day. The tummy tonic’s high concentration of magnesium hydroxide works to eliminate any excess oil in the skin by breaking down wax and other sebum-producing chemicals in the skin. Another beauty-boosting benefit of this ingredient? Evening out skin-tone. “Milk of magnesia would work well as a primer because the magnesium hydroxide has a slight white tint to it, which would even out skin tone, and also works to help withdraw impurities from the skin keeping oil under control,” says Giorgio Armani makeup artist Ashley Rebecca, who adds the milk would be a great alternative to a silicone- or mineral oil-based primer that also work to even out skin tone and control oil. “When purchasing, make sure to read the label to ensure no extra synthetic oils are added and you’ll be good to go!”

To use, try pouring some of the milk into the cap it comes with and dip your fingers into it, applying it to the areas of your face that often get oily throughout the day, like your nose, forehead and chin. Rub the formula in until you can barely see it and then apply your makeup right on top for a shine-free look that will last around the clock.
