Two years after introducing makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury to The Makeup Light, Lively just gave the brand another shout out on her Instagram account. “For real Kris—not an ad. What saves our tail every single time we do makeup?” Lively asks her makeup artist, Kristofer Buckle, in a video on her Instagram story. “The makeup light. Perfectly balanced white light to do your makeup in,” he replies while prepping her for the MTV Video Music Awards. “It’s true, blow them up because if you don’t do your makeup in great light you walk outside and look crazy,” adds Lively.

Unsurprisingly, the brand was beyond flattered by Lively’s shout out and ended up sharing a tidbit about the lights in a video posted on their own Instagram account, writing that the lights were used during the makeup prep of Lively’s upcoming movies, A Simple Favor and The Rhyme Section. “Award-winning makeup artist Vivian Baker had the pleasure of working with Blake on both movies, and she always brings The Makeup Light along. In her words, “You can never have too many lights!” the caption read. Get a sneak peek at the backstage set up, below:

Considering how often we’ve applied makeup in our bedrooms and then stepped outside and realized how different it looks in bright light, we can’t help but agree that this product is a major game-changer for perfecting your look. While Lively’s favorite brand can be seriously pricey, it’s still a good reminder to see your makeup in bright light before heading out for the day (or night!). Less expensive options can be found on Amazon, so definitely check that out before dropping the big bills on these professional-level lights.

She’s a face of L’Oréal Paris and has access to the best skin care and expert-approved makeup tips, but Blake Lively just introduced her Cannes glam squad—as in the one and only Charlotte Tilbury—to something seriously futuristic and high-tech: The Makeup Light.

According to Tilbury’s Instagram, she was just familiarized with what she calls “the best-kept secret” via Lively. The device sort of looks like what you would see behind-the-scenes at a photo shoot, (the brand is actually owned by a parent company that supplies lights for film, TV and commercials) and its purpose is pretty simple: to help accurately recreate the sun’s light—with LED, not any harmful rays—makeup artists need to do a look.

It’s portable, but the price point (it starts at $360) is a lot more than running in and outside to make sure you don’t have a foundation line, yet obviously a bit more practical.
