Victoria’s Secret Angels know a thing or two about makeup. The celestial beauties spend hours backstage getting dolled up and runway ready by the best makeup and hair professionals in the business. In a blog post for QVC, veteran Angel and cofounder of Wander Beauty, Lindsay Ellingson, shares her pro beauty secrets, including one very cool behind-the-scenes beauty hack that all of the VS Angels swear by. Follow these easy tips to get a flawless, angelic glow.

The “V” Is Key
In order to fake a full night’s sleep, Ellingson recommends skipping the tradition half-circle shape under your eye and applying foundation (or concealer) in a “V” shape. “The “V” shape blends beautifully into your skin, looks much more natural than a half-circle and creates the illusion of an instant lift,” says Ellingson. She recommends Wander Beauty’s Flash Focus Hydrating Foundation Stick, which hydrates while providing buildable coverage.
Add Dimension With a Pop of Sheen
To open up your eye with minimal effort, Ellingson suggests strategically applying a champagne or bronze-colored eye shadow to the center of your lids rather than all over. “This will brighten your eyes and make them appear bigger,” says Ellingson. “It adds that touch of dimension—a pop of sheen that is so eye catching!”
Fake a Flushed Cheek
This beauty hack comes straight from the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, where Ellingson and her fellow Angels spend more than three hours backstage in hair and makeup. “The key makeup artist, to my surprise, applied lipstick to our cheeks. After that was blended, he applied foundation on top to slightly mute the color. This gave us a very natural flush to our cheeks. In fact, you can apply almost any lipstick to your cheeks—this is especially great if you’re in a rush and only have room for one product in your bag,” she says.
The Illusion of Fuller Lashes
To get fuller lashes without falsies or extensions, grab your favorite liner and start wiggling. “Start by wiggling your favorite brown eyeliner into your lash line. I love our Slide Liner Gel Eyeliner in bronzed brown, which has a touch of pearlescence and glides onto your lids like silk,” recommends Ellingson. “Next, curl your lashes, gently squeeze at the base, another at the middle and one final squeeze at the tip of your lashes. Finish off your look with your favorite volumizing mascara on both your top and bottom lashes.”
Don’t Forget the Brow Bone
To define your brows, use a highlighter or concealer and apply it directly below your brows on your brow bone and then above your brows as well. Follow the shape of your arch and start blending for an instantaneous lift. “It’s such a quick tip, but it really does make a difference, it’s an easy way to achieve a more youthful appearance at any age!”
