By Carolyn Hsu |
The first Cyrus that comes to mind might be Miley, but
when it comes to fashion and beauty tips, we’re actually more likely to take
notes from her older sister, Brandi. And judging from the actress and popular
fashion blogger’s almost 1 million Instagram followers, it seems like we’re not
alone. We caught up with Brandi at a recent event for Simply Stylist, and left
with a few more beauty tips to try.

What is your daily beauty regimen?
Brandi Cyrus: I have a really intense night routine. I use Rodan + Fields—and I love their anti-aging line. I use the face mask, retinol, moisturizer…the whole nine yards. I also rely on a really gentle cleanser and keep an eye gel around at all times. I hardly get any sleep and am always on the go, so puffy eyes are a reality.
life-changing beauty tricks?
BC: I try to drink a good 3 or 4 liters of water a day and that makes such a big difference in my skin. If you Google the before-and-after photos of someone that drinks that much water daily, in a year, the different is insane. I carry around a Swell bottle to keep track of how much I’m drinking. It’s great because it keeps my water cold for like 24 hours, even if I left it in my hot car.
BC: I love sheet masks. Dr Jart+ has one called the Water Replenishment Cotton Sheet Mask that’s incredible. I was stuck in New York during a snowstorm and my friend and I bought a bunch at Sephora and were obsessed. Skin Laundry also makes a good one that’s super hydrating. I also love always having a small bottle of face toner or spritzer. There’s a line called Little Barn Apothecary, and they make this coconut water toner. I use it everywhere, even on my hair.
I also hate doing my hair—I don’t even blow-dry it. I
use a product called Bumble and bumble “Don’t Blow It” and it’s for the girl
who doesn’t want to blow-dry her hair. I just let it air dry and I’m lucky
to have that beachy, natural texture.
BC: A signature dark lipstick. I use a shade by Lime Crime called Wicked. It’s my go-to shade.
do you and your sisters stay fit?
BC: I’m very athletic and I’ve ridden horses my whole life. Now I do boxing and yoga. Miley also does yoga religiously and Noah rides horses and hikes. The three of us grew up on a farm, so we’ve always been outdoorsy.
Miley have any secret beauty talents?
BC: She always has the most insanely awesome products—all the new things. I’m constantly asking her if I can borrow this and that. She’s always been so good at doing makeup—and really good at doing it very minimally for that natural look. I frequently go to her for advice about that.
NB: Lastly, what's the biggest beauty risk you’ve taken?
BC: Well I went from red to dramatically blond last year. I’ve been a redhead for six years, but decided to go platinum. But, it takes so much maintenance and it’s harder to keep my hair healthy.
