Get The Look: Katherine Heigl's Voluminous Ponytail
An A-lister’s look isn’t complete without a perfect hairdo that stuns from every angle. We got the scoop from celebrity hairstylist Tanya Abriol on how she created Katherine Heigl’s chic, voluminous ponytail so that you can try it at home.
What The Stylist Says:
“I was inspired by the sharp lines of Katherine’s dress and chose a ponytail to show off the neckline,” says Abriol. “I kept her hair sleek on the sides with volume on the top. It’s simple, yet striking.”
According to Abriol, this style can be done on anyone, but is most flattering on those with a soft color and a straight or slightly curly texture. “Keep in mind that if your hair is on the curlier side, the end result will look different.”
How To Get The Look:
On towel-dried hair, create fullness at the roots with a lightweight volumizer. One we recommend is L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle Boost It Volume Inject Mousse ($4), which is infused with thickening agents to make hair look bouncy and full and then stay that way from morning to night.
Add a little shine serum to your ends, then blow-dry with a large round brush to lift the base and create a smooth curl. At the top, separate the crown area from the rest of the hair. Position the ponytail where desired and secure with a hair tie.
Lightly backcomb the top section and wrap remaining hair around the ponytail to hide the hair tie, then pin it in place. Finish the look with a strong-hold hairspray to keep the sides sleek and the volume on top intact.
