Shop Your Way to a Slimmer Figure

Need a good reason to hit the mall? Not only is a shopping trip good for your closet, but it may also be good for your waistline. A recent study actually found that you could burn about 15,000 calories per year solely from shopping.
The survey, conducted by Walls Solero Exotic, found that the average British woman walks about 180 miles every year shopping. That’s the equivalent of about seven marathons!
While that sounds pretty amazing, the study also found that women tend to snack on high-calorie foods while their hunting down the perfect outfit. About 31 percent of women said they consume at least 250 calories in just one shopping trip, and one in 10 admitted they ate as many as 1,000 calories per trip.
If you can avoid the snacking, shopping sure seems like a fun way to preserve your figure. As online shopping increases, experts think that the calorie burn incentive may actually encourage women to go out on the hunt. In fact, 58 percent of women said they would go shopping more often if they could count it as exercise. You won’t lose a significant amount of weight, but every little bit counts, right?
