Your Body Can Get Toned in 7 Minutes

Life experience has likely taught you that anything done quickly usually doesn't yield the best results. We all remember the old adage, "slow and steady wins the race," right? This advice seems no more true than when it comes to diet and fitness, however, new science has broken down exactly how long it should take you to get the body of your dreams and it’s actually not that long at all.

In an article in the May-June issue of the American College of Sports Medicine’s Health & Fitness Journal, the editors broke down a high-intensity interval-training workout into only 12 exercises. The best part? The routine lasts a whole seven minutes and is scientifically proven to give you the results you would get from going for a jog and hitting the weight room.

If this sounds too good to be true, then here are some fact. Research by scientists at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, amongst other institutions, shows that even a few minutes of training at your maximum capacity produces molecular changes within your muscles that are comparable to the changes you would get from several hours of other exercise (like jogging or cycling).

Now, it should be stated that just because the program is quick, it doesn’t mean that it is easy. The exercises require you to push your body to the brink with only 10 seconds of rest between each one. They are to all be performed rapid succession, allowing 30 seconds for each exercise. It is also said that you should experience a discomfort level of about an eight (out of 10) for the entire seven minutes. But then, you're done!
