Take Your Workout Underwater

Cycling in a regular old studio is so yesterday—at least it is when you can incinerate up to 800 calories while immerged in a four-foot deep pool. Aquacycling is the latest trendy workout to make its way from Europe to the Big Apple and it’s swimming up on the competition.
The folks at AQUA in the TriBeCa neighborhood of New York City claim that cycling underwater is far more efficient than land cycling. It’s also impact-free, so it can help protect your joints and muscles. Apparently the support and pressure of the water helps speed up blood circulation and that helps burn fat. They even claim that the water friction you get from aquacycling can help reduce cellulite!
Each workout is 45 minutes long and all you need to bring is a swimsuit and a plastic bag or waterproof pouch. You can also rent a pair of rubber shoes to use during the session.
