The Four Makeup Mistakes You're Making
By Marissa Hicken |
Makeup is supposed to help accentuate our features and enhance our look but when used incorrectly, it can do just the opposite. For a little inspiration, we consulted celebrity makeup artist Luis Casco to find out the four basic makeup mistakes we’re making and how to fix them:
1. Using too much product
It is always my belief that you can always add more but taking off can be hard to do. So experiment by using light layers of any product and building on rather than trying to tone down heavy application.
2. Using the same foundation throughout the year
Your skin changes no matter how much sun protection you wear, so you should have at least two foundations that you can switch around or mix for the most natural results.
3. Skimping on makeup staples
I see some women willing to spend a lot of money on a lipstick but really skimp on the tools that might make their makeup application easier and their products last longer. I recommend everyone to splurge on the best quality brushes and tools (like a great eyelash curler and tweezers) and skimp on some color items—drug stores have some great lip and eye colors!
4. Being afraid of trying something new
Some of the trends might be a little scary to wear and are made for the runway or a photo shoot but taking an idea or an inspiration is what it is all about. Maybe a new eyeliner color (why not try a navy eyeliner instead of black) or a different texture lipstick (a matte red lip is very fashionable) can do the trick? Don’t be scared, try it out at home and even take a picture of yourself wearing it. You might just love the new look.
