Get Keri Russell’s Bouncy Waves

You may remember Keri Russell from the '90s, or better yet, you may recall her wild, curly hair—it was as much a breakout star in the show Felicity as Keri was. Either way, the talented Miss Russell (and her no-longer curly hair) is back on primetime television in the new series The Americans, and looks better than ever.
After two babies, she is one of those laid-back beauties who looks as though she woke in the morning with perfectly tousled waves and effortlessly glossy lips. "I'm not really a vixen, sexy, va-va-voomy makeup girl," the star has said in recent interviews. Instead, she sticks to more neutral makeup tones. In fact, she was just spotted at this year’s Sundance Film Festival feverishly applying Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment SPF 15 in Sugar Coral ($23)—a subtle and sheer pink tone.
As for her hair, it's obvious she is doing something in order to get those frizz-free waves. Her hairstylist, Brian Magallones, who created a modern take on a classic ‘50s look for her New York premiere of The Americans, says the style is glamorous, but still edgy.
He offers these four simple steps to achieve the look at home:
Step 1: Curl 2-inch sections of hair and pin them up in pin curls. As you are curling, spray each section with a hair product that will provide volume and hold like Aveda Volumizing Tonic ($10).
Step 2: Once the pin curls are cool and set, remove each one and flat iron the ends. The straight ends are what give this look that modern edge, says Magallones.
Step 3: Next, create a deep side part for drama, and brush the hair to relax the curl and shape the wave.
Step 4: To finish the look, spray with a flexible hold hairspray.
