Poll: Do You Pick Your Pimples?

You’ve been told that picking, popping and squeezing a pimple is a huge beauty no-no. Some experts claim that doing so can cause scarring and make them worse, among other things. But those little buggers have a way of getting under your skin (literally) and make you want to get rid of them by any means necessary.

If you’re anything like us, it’s almost impossible to resist the urge to extract at home. Even though we ought to know better, sometimes you just can’t help it. So it’s time to confess, do you pick at your pimples? Tell us in the comments and we'll give you more information on the pros and cons of pimple-picking in a post next week.

I HATE pimples, I don't get them often but when I do I can't stand it. This morning I woke up with one of my forehead, of all places. Instead of picking or popping I took 2 kleenex, and wrapped up an ice cube with it put the bare ice on it. After holding it there for some time (maybe 30 minutes while on facebook) it really did go down! I'm going to do it for a little longer and hoping it does go away, I scar easily so I'm trying to stop popping them. Also, you should look up 'homemade face masks' etc, and give some a try once or twice a week!

Yes I do. When I see bumps under the skin, I want them gone. some never do go away. I am 46 and my skin still breaks out. I am getting a micro laser peel next week. I hope this helps with those pimple like bumps under my skin that are always there

Since I've started using superficial at home chemical peels, I don't pick the pimples - they typically dry up or open up (gross) on their own.

"Just one more", "that one wasn't good enough", "well might as well do a few more".. 4 hours later, I lay here hopeless. I hide in my room, so my roommates don't have to see the hideous mess I've created. The mirror is my safe zone where the only thing that matters is the next pimple I'm going to pop. It's incredibly relieving... I even have that favorite type of pimple to pop. But it needs to stop. Today. I'm taking away from myself. Where did my fun, loving, happy go hearted, personality go? I say this from the bottom of my heart, don't let this disorder take you down. You can stop now before it manifests deep within you. You are strong. Don't let society and the media tell you what beauty is. Figure out who you are and know your purpose. I guarantee you'll then understand what REAL beauty means.

I am a true skin picker! I do it all over my body face. Breasts, legs, EVERYWHERE for 6 to 10 hours a day or night. I think about it all the time. I had beautiful skin I don't understand why I do this until I am bleeding and shaking. I won't drink eat or use the rest room during this time period and I do it everyday! HELP

ughh yes.. i just did :( my skin is clear for the most part, but when it does starts misbehaving my ocd kicks in and i have to turn every bump i can see or even just feel into a huge red spot. i've also noticed this destructive behavior occurs way more frequently when i don't get enough sleep.

I have tried everything on pimples to make them go away fast without picking or popping and have not found anything that makes them go away faster.

I know it's awful regardless, but I pick mine with my knuckles instead of my nails.. to prevent scars/scratches! I also do it at night so my face has time to heal in my sleep.

Yes, I do pick/pop my pimples. Well, @least only those that have a head. I find that some pimples and blackheads will scar regardless of whether I touch them or not.

Yes. I haven't for awhile but recently I started to breakout again. It is too embarassing to go to work and out and about with big whiteheads on my face.
