Face oils and oil-based elixirs promise a world of beauty benefits, but for acne sufferers and sensitive skin types, they can be scary products to avoid like the plague. No matter how many positive reviews I’ve heard about them, I’m of that rather partisan opinion-the one that thinks I have enough trouble day-to-day deterring oil; I don’t really need to add more to the mix.
But I just discovered a brand that’s finally convinced me (rather late) to give oils a try: Belmondo Organic Skin Care, a Canadian line that’s centered around a signature blend of sourced-from-Italy olive oil, mixed with skin-healing organic calendula, chamomile flower, lavender and rosehip. The formulator, Canadian aesthetician Daniela Belmondo, makes her products in small batches-and she is a firm believer in the power of pure olive oil to “improve, soothe, heal and repair the skin,” including the supersensitive skin on the face. All of the products (start by trying out the Travel Kit,$65, a five-piece protocol that gives first-timers an easy transition into the world of oil-based skin care) smell so incredibly fresh and spa-like, but not overpowering, and all of the ingredients on the packaging are completely pronounceable. They’ll have you wondering why you didn’t make the plunge into oils earlier.
