Fat-Busting Workout Gets You Fit In 4 Weeks

Who doesn't want to look and feel longer, leaner and more flexible? If your hand is raised, welcome to the club and now would be a great time to introduce you to one of the hottest workouts to come out of New York City-Physique 57.
With multiple locations, a new book, and a compilation of fat-busting at-home DVDs, this celebrity workout (think Kelly Ripa and models like Christy Turlington) is the ultimate 57-minute sweat session. "Physique 57 is a focused cardio program of isometric exercises and orthopedic stretches to rapidly transform the body," says cofounder and creator Tanya Becker. Similar to interval training, minimal weights are used, but it's mostly your own body weight that acts as resistance. "The targeted muscles are overloaded to the point of fatigue. The body is then stretched for relief, which also lengthens [the muscles]," she says. This combination of tearing, stretching and rebuilding the muscle through fun ballet-inspired moves is what creates that long and gorgeous lean look.
It should be noted that dedication is part of the equation. The more time you devote to the exercise, the quicker, and better your body will look. After the first few classes you'll see a change. However, Becker notes that you will really start to see your body start to change after eight classes. After four weeks of continued classes or DVD workouts (shoot for four to five times a week) you might even get as ripped as Ms. Ripa.
