Ask An Expert: Get Rid Of Those Dark Circles

We want to make sure that you're getting the beauty advice you need. That's why every week we gather your questions and get you answers from the best experts in the industry. This week we brought back celebrity makeup artist Desirae Cherman to answer your questions.
On Facebook, Juli asks, "Is there any way to get rid of under eye dark circles that have been there for years? Also, what's the best concealer while you're waiting for the treatment to work? I'm over 40."
Cherman says that the issue with dark circles is that they're often hereditary, so they can be hard to completely get rid of. But there are some ways you can help reduce their appearance, such as drink water and get lots of sleep. “Use an eye cream that has a little bit of an illuminating element to it. You want to use something that brightens, so it kind of acts as a primer as well. That way, when you go in with a concealer, there's not as much to cover.”
A concealer that she recommends is Smooth Operator™ Amazonian Clay Waterproof Concealer by Tarte ($22). “It's really great because it's a creamy formula. You don't want anything under your eyes that's too dry because that tends to highlight any wrinkles and make it difficult to cover dark circles.” She also loves it because it's waterproof, so you won't have to worry about touching it up throughout the day.
So there you have it! You ask, we answer. Keep sending us those questions on Facebook
and Twitter, and we'll keep getting you expert beauty advice.
