Many are buzzing about French actress Vanessa Paradis, who at the Paris premiere of her new film Café De Flore showed up sans boyfriend Johnny Depp. Whether or not Paradis and Depp are headed for breakup doesn’t concern us, however. It’s her extremely damaged-looking hair that’s got us talking.

It looks as though over-processing of Paradis’ hair (Ombre takes a toll) has dried out her hair, leaving it frizzy and fried. If over-processed strands are getting in the way of the look you’re after, it may be time to turn to a professional treatment. Targeting damaged to severely damaged hair, L’Oréal Professionnel Série Expert Fiberceutic (starting at $35) literally fills in the “holes” by molding to the inner cortex, adding support. “Under a microscope, damaged hair looks like a road with potholes. But Fiberceutic fills and smooths the strand,” says celebrity hairstylist Eva Scrivo. The two-step treatment leaves hair smooth for six to 10 shampoos.

Another hair care line to check out is the Kerastase Resistance Force Architecte Collection which tackles severely damaged hair using three reparative ingredients: Intra-Cylane to strengthen hair at its core and fill split ends, Pro-Keratin to reinforce and revitalize the hair, and Ceramides to seal the scales of the hair cuticle and make it shiny.
